Capture the Moment: A Season Written in Two Directions, One Destination
For Vera Bradley's Holiday 2024 campaign, I anchored the season's language in a single idea: make the most of it. "Capture the Moment" led the catalog, and every line that followed treated the season as a collection of moments to be claimed — savored, stolen, taken, shared. The catalog intro set the rule ("Live in the moment. Bond with loved ones. Take time to reflect."), and the system flexed across two registers: moments given to others — "Gatherings and Getaways," "RSVP-ready," a gift guide built on "giving is always more rewarding than receiving" — and moments kept for yourself, in sends like "You do you." ("steal a few moments for yourself") and "Take the day."
THE SYSTEM: One idea, two interpretations.
Where holiday retail copy defaults to urgency, this framework lets promotions fit into the narrative rather than interrupt it. Even the back cover closed the loop in the same vocabulary: "Make your move." As sole copywriter, I wrote every headline and supporting line across catalog, email, paid social, and direct mail.
